Recognized Courses & Programs
Start Your Certification With Professional Aromatherapy Training
Your journey to becoming a Registered Aromatherapist® starts with the right education. CAOA-recognized programs ensure your training meets national standards and prepares you for professional success in Canada’s growing aromatherapy field.
Why CAOA Recognition Matters for Aromatherapy Training
Graduates from CAOA-recognized programs are eligible to apply for RA® certification. This recognition means the program:
Meets or exceeds national aromatherapy training standards
Covers essential oil safety, anatomy and physiology, and client care
Includes both theory and practical application
Is taught by qualified instructors with professional aromatherapy experience
Choosing a program that isn’t CAOA-recognized could result in additional requirements, or even ineligibility, when you apply for RA® certification.
How CAOA Recognizes Courses & Programs
CAOA-recognized courses have been reviewed and found to meet our Core Curriculum Standards. To qualify for recognition, a course must be offered by an institution governed by a provincial act, such as the Universities Act, and follow the CAOA Professional Standards & Safety guidelines.
Each recognized course is taught by at least one Registered Aromatherapist® with a minimum of two years of professional experience. Instructors must commit, in writing, to teaching CAOA’s Core Curriculum as the foundation of their program.
While CAOA recognizes these courses and instructors, we do not assume responsibility for teaching methods, facilities, quality of instruction, or any other actions or activities of individual instructors.
If you are an educator and would like your course considered for recognition, please contact us to learn more.
